Linked below is a new song called Shake It Off 100% written and recorded in my home "studio".
Its a song about forced new beginnings and how we deal with things that are out of our control. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I've been recording at home and trying to really work on my producing & mixing skills which are pretty lacking. I've bought a few new plug-ins during locdown and upgraded from Garage Band to Logic. All tools that I'm just learning to use. This is the first song that I think is pretty passable along those lines. I love the strings that come in near the end. The vocals need to be re-recoded and I don't love the lyric for the lift in verse three. But I get to a point where I'm just kind of done with a song. At least for the time being. I got what I needed out of writing this one, hopefully it connects with someone else out there. The Lyric. I try to always get a good opening line, to varying degrees of success. I think I got a good one here. "Hook 'em High" I think is some battle cry for Texas A&M maybe? Texas Tech? Not entirely sure where I've heard that, but it's interesting that it worked its way into this song. As always, would love to hear what you think.
