Indianapolangeles is titled the way it is because it’s a half and half record. Half of these songs were written a decade ago when I still lived in Indianapolis and the other half after a several year break from writing which included a move to LA.
Monuments is from the LA batch of songs, born from my songwriting game and the phrase “easy machine” which makes its appearance in the first verse. When I sent out the preview to a handful of folks, this track was a favorite. It’s a mid-tempo rock ballad complete with an emotional electric guitar solo and it would be quite at home on the radio in 1997.
