The first track on Indianapolangeles “Build It Up” was written in 2014, it was the first song that came from a songwriting game I ran with a small group of songwriter friends. I needed a kickstart to get back into the songwriting groove, so I created one. The game is the brainchild of Austin based singer-songwriter Bob Schneider, (whose inspiration I wear on my sleeve).
Someone picks a word or phrase and you have a week to write a song that incorporates that phrase. This particular week's pharse was "I wish the wind would blow me" (which just so happens to be a Bob Schneider song).
I took that phrase and ended up with a song about moving forward. Getting up after you fall and not looking back. It's an upbeat song and it's a perfect track to kick things off.
